Approximatley 250km (155miles) through the
Sahara desert over a 6-7 day period, in
temperatures that can reach 50C during the day
and drop near zero at night. If this alone isn't
challenging enough competitors also have to
carry 7 days worth of food ,clothes, bedding and
emergency supplies  on their back. Only water
rations are supplied.
This is the challege that awaits
Paul Roper a 38 year old NSW Police Diver who
is training to complete this gruelling event in
2008 .
Not wearing this we hope!!!
Endurance is one of the most difficult
disciplines, but it is to the one who
endures that the final victory comes.

Unsurprisingly although  partly with the aim of testing his
personal limits, he is running for a cause.
He is supporting two childrens charities.

& DAY of DIFFERENCE
Foundation

Additionally since Competing in the MDS is not an
inexpensive proposition (the entry fee alone is several
thousand dollars) Paul is seeking
company or individual
sponsorship

Paul is a NSW Police Officer who is in the DIVING unit.
He has competed in & completed 6 Ironman Triathlons &
one OXFAM 100km charity run as part of a team of Police
Divers. He is also due to compete in the Oxfam 100km
charity event again in August 2007.

Sponsors will be able to supply a link on this website. Paul
will be wearing sponsors logos on his kit & this website will
keep anyone who is interested informed of his progess with
training & of course the event as emails can be sent at the
end of each days gruelling leg. Just click on
"Paul's BLOG"
for the latest news!

You may think he is brave or maybe (maybe??) just a wee
bit crazy...but either way  your help would be greatly
appreciated
